Germany has a strong and well-functioning school system. A Teacher in Germany is very well paid by international standards. Our schools are modern and well equipped.
The minimum requirement to be allowed to teach in Germany is a degree from a university. A German language qualification will also be required, at level B2 or C1 depending on subject and type of school.
Without a teaching qualification, it is possible to start with a salary of around 2300 euros net. With further qualifications that are recognised in Germany, a higher salary is paid.
A full-time position involves teaching 23 to 26 lessons of 45 minutes each per week. Part-time work is possible. A total of twelve and a half weeks of school holidays are well spread out over the year, and there are a few public holidays on top.
We have our own teacher-training course which you can take part in if necessary. After a 6-month probationary period, you can expect to receive a permanent contract.
